A template for reading and writing

1. Generate Interest - ask questions, present a situation, show some photos - catch the students attention.
2. Pre teach vocabulary - this is specific to vocabulary the students will need for the reading/listening text & activity.
3. Gist task - this is a quick task which gets the students to 'skim' or browse quickly to accomplish something. ie: match 3 pictures to 3 portions of a reading text.
4. St - St Compare - have students compare their results in pairs - feedback to the teacher
5. Detailed task - this is a task that requires the students to read or listen more carefully and accomplish something. ie: complete a printed table by 'scanning' and locating important pieces of information from the text.

6. Productive Activity - put the language learned to use in a speaking or writing activity. Ie: students are given one half of a connected portion of the text and must get up, walking around, locating their match and reading their text aloud.
