Before complaints come...

How often are you communicating to parents? This is something that I feel I have had great success with in my years of teaching. I invite parents in a few times a term (outside of presentations). I usually will give feedback on how the class is doing (the good and the bad), explain new items for homework, writing or speaking practice. I have found the more I include parents early on, it almost eliminates parent complaints. It also makes presentations not so stressful. I am used to seeing the parents, so it is a bit more comfortable. Try it out if you haven't been.
