prediction from headline or visuals
inventing a title or selecting one from a list
put illustrations in the right order

Try this one too: A comic strip without the words in the speech bubbles- they fill in individually and see who can make the funniest dialogue. Fun! There is a funny webcomic that does this with the same pictures every day just different dialogue (between three dinosaurs, no less). Very interesting! Check it out at www.qwantz.com (***may include adult themes not suitable for the easily offended***)
PS- after posting this I looked at today's comic over at Dinosaur Comics, and the author posted a link to an ESL teacher in China who has used Dinosaur Comics for exactly what I was talking about!
