Play the family card! How to handle parent complains abt class handovers
Teacher leaves,
We inform the parents,
Parents complain
We try to explain, but only make it worse...
It happens every single time with a class handover.
Only if the parents can understand and be more reasonable!
We at JD tried a new way to talk to the parents, and it worked great!
First we invite the parents in 5 minutes before class finishes. Then the teachers draws a picture of him and his family members; he introduces his family to the class, tell them how long he has been apart from his loved ones, and how much he misses them. Meanwhile, the teacher asks the kids and the parents about their own families; they totally get it! When it comes to family, a Chinese understands. As long as they understand, the rest just happens.
Just like that, problem solved.
I can’t promise that ‘family card’ would work on all the classes, but it surely worth a shot.
Good luck!

Hi Allen,
Thank you so much for sharing this. Ryan had mentioned the approach and its success.
This is exactly why I'm very eager for Chinese staff to participate in the forums.
Super!
